How to install a UniFi Access point

Objective: Provide clear instructions for ceiling or wall mounting and cabling the AP.

Steps:

1. Unpack & inspect – Confirm all parts: mounting bracket, AP, screws, anchors, PoE injector (if included).
2. Choose location – Ensure central placement with DHCP network access and PoE delivery.
3. Mounting –
   • Pre-drill holes (typically 6 mm for wall, 3 mm for ceiling).
   • Attach mounting bracket using screws/anchors.
   • Secure AP onto bracket by aligning the notch and rotating clockwise until it clicks.
4. Connect power/data –
   • Use Cat5/6 cable to connect AP's Main port to a compatible PoE switch or UniFi PoE injector.
   • For PRO models, 802.3af/at is supported
5. Check LED status –
   • White = factory default; flashing = initializing; steady blue = adopted and working
